Ferric Nitrate is also called Iron nitrate. Appears as violet crystals and is soluble in water, alcohol, and acetone. It is a strong oxidant and irritant.
Ferric nitrate solutions are used by jewelers and metalsmiths to etch silver, copper, brass, and bronze. It can create intricate patterns and designs on the surface of the metal. It is also used in patination to create a rust-like finish on metal surfaces.
